Name: Terence Daniels
Location: Scottsdale, AZ USA

Golficity: Where were you born?

Terence Daniels: I was born in Bermuda.  Yes Bermuda! Moved to Scottsdale, AZ at age 16

Golficity: How old were you when you first began playing golf?

TD: I think 10 or 11 can’t remember.  Started playing competitive at age 12 and won my first tournament ever, I was hooked!

Golficity: If you woke up every morning and had to play the same course, which one would it be and why?

TD: Augusta National or St. Andrews (Old Course).  There is so much history at those two courses.

Golficity: What is your goal as a professional over the next 3-5 years – where do you want to see Terence Daniels name?

TD: My goal is to be playing full-time on the Nationwide or PGA Tour.  I want to see my name on the top of a leader board beating the best players in the world.

Golficity: What do you consider your greatest accomplishment as a golfer?

TD: Probably taking medalist honors at the 2010 US Amateur qualifier.  It was one of my goals to qualify for that tournament that summer and I accomplished it.

Golficity: Who is the most interesting pro you have ever met or played with?

TD: I Played with Mike Donald at the 2010 Goslings Invitational held in Bermuda.  He is a former PGA Tour player and a great guy.  He lost a playoff to Hale Irwin in the 1990 US Open.  He gave me a lot of great advice and what I needed to do in the future in order to be the best I can be.

Golficity: Who is your favorite golfer to watch on the PGA Tour?

TD: Tiger Woods duh, ha-ha!  He is the best player on the planet and always does something special in every tournament.  He can hit all the shots, his short game is great, and there no better pressure putter in history.

Golficity: What equipment to you use?

TD:

  • Driver – PING Rapture V2
  • 3 Wood – PING G10
  • Irons – NIKE VR Pro Combo Set
  • Wedges – NIKE VR Pro
  • Ball – NIKE 20IX S
  • Putter – Scotty Cameron Newport 2
Lightning Round “Get to Know Terence.”

Golficity: Favorite food to eat before a round?

TD: Turkey Club wrap/sandwich.

Golficity: Any other pre-round rituals?

TD: Pray.

Golficity: If you could play golf with anyone in history, who would it be?

TD: Tiger Woods or Bubba Watson (Watson likes to have fun on the course, we would have a good laugh).

Golficity: Do you play any other sports?

TD: I play lot soccer and basketball (played competitive soccer for 12 years).

Golficity: What’s your favorite TV show?

TD: CSI, How I Met Your Mother (big into Sitcoms).

Golficity: How can we follow Terence Daniels’ journey to the PGA Tour?

TD: Twitter.com/TerenceDaniels

Golficity: Can you tell about some tournaments you won over the last few years, cuts you missed, what’s ahead on the calendar, etc?

TD: I won the 2010 PAC West Conference Championship by 2 shots in Hawaii, only player to shoot under par in every round.  There was a lot of pressure since I blew a shot lead a couple years prior.  That win sealed my conference player of the year award for a second straight year.

When I was medalist at the US Am qualifier I eagled the first hole of the day and knew I was going to achieve something special.  After shooting even par 72 in the first round and knew I needed to make some birdies.  I birdied 5 of last 7 holes to finish on top.

I missed the cut in my first professional appearance last summer after shooting -2.  I didn’t play that bad but struggled mentally knowing that I was now playing for money.  Since then I have made money in every event I’ve played.

I’m headed to Canada on June 30th to play in a Canadian Tour event (Dakota Dunes Championship).  After that I’ll be heading to the Wyoming Open.  No other events planned, depends on my play.

Golficity: Anything else we missed?

TD: I moved to Scottsdale, AZ at age 16 from Bermuda in order to pursue a golf career.  After winning a team state championship my senior of high school, I played 4 years of collegiate golf at Grand Canyon University winning 4 events.  After graduating in 2010 I played the Amateur tour for a year before turning pro last summer.

I am the oldest of 4 brothers and have dual citizenship between the US and Bermuda – Yes Bermuda as in the Bermuda triangle.

I am currently working part-time at the Raven Golf Club Phoenix.

I like to do goofy things to celebrate a birdie.  It’s not unusual for me to yell out “Birdie Time” after draining a putt!
