NEWS: Fred Couples Reacts to PGA Social Media Incentives
To Fred Couples, the only tweet that matters is that of the ever sought after birdie.
Not all professional golfers are on board with the PGA’s new ‘Player Impact Program’, and Fred Couples took to Twitter yesterday to air his grievances regarding the $40 million pool that players will compete for a share of.
Let me get this straight. There’s 40 mil in play for the guys on the @pgatour based on social media likes and follows and tweets ?! The only tweets I’ve ever heard make you money are birdie tweet tweets! Good luck with that 🤔🤦♂️🤷

Couples doesn’t have the biggest social media presence, with a little over 36k followers on Twitter, while the young Will Zalatoris has almost double that at 67k followers.
As Couples himself said, the only tweets that make real money are “birdie tweet tweets”.
The ‘Player Impact Program’ has been met with both praise and scorn. Because only 10 players will receive a share of the money, those like Couples whose popularity have been surpassed by the likes of the DeChambeau’s or Homa’s of the world, are seemingly on the outside looking in from the get-go.
