In an epic battle of what has become a routine occurrence each year, the most recent edition of Capital One’s The Match has been set for June 29, and will feature Golden State Warriors’ Splash Brothers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, who will face off against Kansas City Chiefs teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Both Curry and Mahomes will make their second The Match appearances, with Mahomes playing last Summer against Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady. Mahomes played with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, and they were defeated on the final hole.

Curry played with Peyton Manning against Charles Barkley and Phil Mickelson in 2020 and lost 4 and 3.

Kelce has played with Mahomes at other events, like the annual celebrity golf tournament last Summer. Thompson has not played with Curry in any televised events but has played golf for several years.

The event is a highly-publicized matchup as the two groups have become legends in modern-day iterations of their respective sports. Curry and Thompson have won four NBA Titles together and have widely been regarded as the “Splash Brothers,” labeling them as the best three-point duo in the league.

Meanwhile, Mahomes and Kelce have led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl appearances and two Championships, with the most recent coming last year with their triumph over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Match is a charity event that has already raised more than $35 million for various organizations and features mini-games throughout that help boost the number upward. It’s all for a good cause.

The Match will be held at Wynn Golf Club for the third time.
