Caddie Qualifies for the 3M Open and Gets Paired with his Boss For First Round
A great story comes out this week in anticipation of the 3M Open as Erik Van Rooyen’s caddie Alex Gaugert has qualified for the tournament and will play alongside the guy who he usually carries a bag for.
Alex Gaugert, who caddies for Erik Van Rooyen normally, but Monday Q’d this week is paired the first two rounds….

The result is leaving Van Rooyen in search of a new caddy for the week. The story develops, however, in the fact that the two are paired together for the opening round on Thursday,
Van Rooyen Tweeted:
“So my caddie @lil_gaugs just qualified for the @3MOpen! What a STUD!!! Soooooooo anyone want to loop this week?!”

It’s “Beat the Boss” week – but Gaugert’s road to this tee time hasn’t been easy.
He finished looping at the Barracuda Championship on Sunday, slept in the airport as his connecting flight in Seattle was delayed three hours, landed at 9 A.M., and got to the course at 10:30 A.M.
-Got out of the Minnesota airport around 9AM and quickly went home
-Arrived at the course at 10:30 for an 11:10 tee time
-Hit 15 balls on the range and off he went
-Was -2 at the turn and then shot -4 on the back to get into a playoff where he earned a spot in the @3MOpen pic.twitter.com/OOwJE3xvoF— Callaway Golf (@CallawayGolf) July 25, 2023
Alex hit a few balls and shot six-under to get into a playoff on Monday and earn a spot at the 3M Open. After all this, he’s paired with his boss!
