Tiger Woods has joined the PGA TOUR policy board as a player director. So what does that mean?

Amidst the constant flux in professional golf, Tiger has made his stance clear on supporting the PGA TOUR throughout the last few years. Despite his lack of presence as a player, he is now able to remain in a decision makers role on the policy board.

“I am honored to represent the players of the PGA TOUR. This is a critical point for the TOUR, and the players will do their best to make certain that any changes that are made in TOUR operations are in the best interest of all TOUR stakeholders, including fans, sponsors and players.

The players thank Commissioner Monahan for agreeing to address our concerns, and we look forward to being at the table with him to make the right decisions for the future of the game that we all love. He has my confidence moving forward” —TW

Jay Monahan is not every players favourite guy right now – but the vote of confidence from Tiger is bound to do him some good. After health concerns arose and hypocrisy claims were thrown around after the LIV merger – he had a lot on his plate.

On the one hand; this will go a long way in convincing the players that they are being listened to. On the other, you could say the Tour is being run by a select few individuals, which goes against a more democratic set-up run by the players.

What do you think?

He focuses on writing opinion pieces while keeping up to date with LIV Golf, Tour events and Major championships, providing good insights into the professional game. His best golf memories are shooting 72 with a double on 18, running the Golf Society at Lancaster University, and steering them to the first ever Varsity win against rivals York. His favorite club is his Scotty Cameron Newport 2.0, and his favorite event is the Masters!
