TaylorMade’s new Proto Iron Spotted at Rocket Mortgage
TaylorMade has a new “Proto” iron in Detroit this week as the Rocket Mortgage Classic is back in town, and several players have it in the bag this week.
The PGA TOUR spotted the new iron in Nick Dunlap’s bag this week, and TaylorMade has not released any specs or features of the club, but there is plenty to speculate about:

The iron appears to be a hollow-bodied design, and that theory is supported by the screw in the toe section of the club as well as the thru-slot on the sole. The lighter weight allows for higher clubhead speeds and ball speeds, which will translate to more distance.
The hollow-body design also increases forgiveness and is engineered and built in two pieces instead of one. This gives OEMs the ability to manipulate the club in more ways, making it more suitable to fit the needs to players.
The PGA TOUR speculates the new Proto iron is different from the previous P7CB Proto if it is actually hollow-bodied.
