With the Turkish Airlines Open in full swing, and with the second round completed, there are many familiar names at the top of the leaderboard, including bookies’ favourite, Rory McIlroy.

After an two consecutive rounds of bogey-free 67’s, Rory is amongst the top contenders this week, sat tied 6th, only four shots behind leader Jaco Van Zyl at 14 under.

With the Irishman back on good form after his forced absence of six months, it could be his chance to secure a European Tour Victory to end his injury-affected season.

Taking to social media, McIlroy seems fairly confident, after reposting a picture from the European Tour’s Instagram earlier today.

The European Tour stated: “The last five times McIlroy has opened a European Tour with a round of 67 or lower he’s finished win, win, 2nd, 2nd, win.”

RORY on Instagram: “McIlroy… Rory McIlroy. The last five times McIlroy has opened a European Tour event with a round of 67 or lower he’s finished win, win, 2nd, 2nd, win. #TurkishAirlinesOpen #checkintogolf”

RORY shared a post on Instagram: “McIlroy… Rory McIlroy. The last five times McIlroy has opened a European Tour event with a round of 67 or lower he’s finished win, win, 2nd, 2nd, win. #TurkishAirlinesOpen #checkintogolf”. Follow their account to see 563 posts.

This shows that Rory is striving for the win, and with his performance over the first two rounds, he has put himself in the mix.

With this being the first of the four European Tour Final Series, a win at Antalya would set him in great stead for the final remaining stages of the season.
