Will the Future of LIV Golf All Come Down to This?

LIV Golf’s future may now rest in the hands of one player… but does LIV need him, more than he needs them?

In this episode of The Golf Podcast we break down the latest LIV Golf news as the league fights for survival and Bryson DeChambeau emerges as potentially the most important player in LIV Golf 2.0’s future. With reports of just 15 tentative player commitments, a proposed $300 million investment from BC Partners, and another looming deadline, can LIV Golf survive without some of its biggest stars?

We discuss the departures of Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, and Ian Poulter, along with Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson’s involvement in a reported $100 million dispute with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Plus, shocking LIV Golf bankruptcy filings reveal $15.6 million in executive retention payments, raising questions about the league’s financial management.

Finally, we uncover the surprising story of PGA Tour star Cameron Young, who reportedly signed a letter agreement to join LIV Golf in 2022 before ultimately staying on the PGA Tour. Did Cameron Young dodge a bullet, or did he potentially leave millions on the table? We debate the financial rewards versus career legacy, what LIV Golf’s collapse could mean for professional golf, and whether Bryson DeChambeau holds the keys to LIV’s future.
