Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick took home a three-shot victory this past Sunday at the Nordea Masters.  This was Fitzpatrick’s second European Tour victory.

Fitzpatrick, being 21 years of age, is the youngest winner in the history of the tournament.  You might ask yourself how does someone so young keep his composure under all this pressure.  Fitzpatrick told the press “‘I was so zoned into my own game I didn’t really know what was going on around me half the time.”  This is a terrific mindset.  He was able to play his own game, block out distractions, and not let anyone else impact how HE played.

This win has moved Fitzpatrick into third place in the Ryder Cup qualifying race.

Again, Fitzpatrick was able to show his maturity when asked about the Ryder Cup.  Fitzpatrick said, “It’s something I’m trying to play down a little bit.  There’s still a long way to go before then, there are still three majors and anyone can win them.  Hopefully I’ll keep playing well and see where we end up come September.”

Clearly Fitzpatrick has a bright and long future ahead of him.  He also became the second youngest player to win two European Tour events.  Sir Nick Faldo being the only player doing it at a younger age.
