Dustin Johnson Questionable to Play After Fall
According to multiple reports, Dustin Johnson is now questionable to play at Augusta after taking a fall down a flight of stairs.
In a statement from Johnson’s agent, David Winkle,
David Winkle, Johnson’s agent, released a statement this afternoon.
“At roughly 3:00 pm today, Dustin took a serious fall on a staircase in his Augusta rental home,” the statement read. “He landed very hard on his lower back and is now resting, although quite uncomfortably. He has been advised to remain immobile and begin a regimen of anti-inflammatory medication and icing, with the hope of being able to play tomorrow.”
That last part is rough to read. “Hope of being able to play tomorrow”.
DJ was the odds-on favorite to win The Masters after winning his last three tournaments. Last year, he finished tied fourth in the first Major of the year.
Now, after a freak accident, even if Johnson is able to tough it out and tee off tomorrow, who knows if the injury will linger. It isn’t hard to believe that he will do anything he can to be able to show up, only to have to withdraw.
Hopefully, this will be a small setback and DJ will be ready to go come Thursday morning. It would be such a letdown to not have the number one golfer in the world playing at Augusta this weekend.
