The most highly anticipated match is going down this Friday November 23 at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson for a grand prize of $9 million.
Time & Viewing Info
“Capital One’s The Match: Tiger vs. Phil” will be on pay-per-view for $19.99. B/R Live is the head provider, but other providers include DirecTV, AT&T U-verse, Comcast, Charter, and Cox.
The tee time is scheduled for 3 pm ET/12 pm PT, but coverage starts at 2 pm ET/11 am PT with golfer Pat Perez, Samuel L. Jackson, and Charles Barkley.
Don’t worry about trying to get tickets because this event is closed for the public, and invited guests and VIP are the only people allowed to be at the match in person.
This event is pay-per-view which means there is NO commercials which is great for fans, and it gets better because Tiger and Phil plus their respective caddies will be mic’d up, so fans will be able to hear the conversations that they will never hear during commercial breaks as the golfers are making their way down the fairway.
Additional Information
In addition, on the screen viewers will be able to see betting odds, statistics, and other information about the golfers via MGM Resorts Race & Sports Books.
Separate from the $9 million, there will be side bets between the two golfers during the 18-hole match, which may include closest to the pin, and longest drive.
Actually, the side bets have already began as Phil Mickelson is so confident that he bet Tiger $100,000, during the Tuesday press conference, he would birdie the first hole. Tiger made the audience ooh and ah when he replied “Double it!”.
According to Bleacher Report, the money earned from the side wages will go to the charities of Tiger and Phil’s choice.
Shadow Creek had been open since 1990, and is currently owned by MGM Resorts International. It has a par-72 layout of 7,560 yards.
Tiger and Phil’s Recent Form
Tiger is coming off his first win in five years, at the Tour Championship in September, and is currently ranked at 13 in the world.
Phil on the other hand has struggled, as he is 27th in the world and had only won one event in 2018 which was at the WGC-Mexico Championship. This was his first win since the British Open back in 2013.
Prediction
It is impossible to predict something that has never been done before like this, but my prediction for “The Match” is Tiger starts out hot on the front nine, but Phil is able to make a few birdies on the back nine and win the $9 million thanks to a bogey by Tiger on the 18th hole.
