PGA Championship - GolficityThe 94th PGA Championship will be held this week at The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island.  All the big names will once again be in attendance this week to try and get a crack at a major victory.  However, yet again, all eyes will be on Tiger Woods…will this be the first major in a long time?

Golf Digest labeled this course as the most difficult course in the United States, with the layout being the first South Carolina hosted major.  It measures 7,676 yards and plays a par 72 track which happens to be the longest in major championship history.

Loaded with sand dunes, course architect Pete Dye challenged this track for the skilled professionals – but get this, there are no bunkers.  If a ball lies in the sand dune it will be played through the green, just as rough that surrounds a fairway.

The coastal winds should play a factor for the holes that lie on the water.  Watch out for gusty breezes that may force the ball into an unwanted direction.  There is a major threat for rain and thunderstorms throughout the week.  Temperatures will rise into the upper 80s.

Some of our favorites this week include Louis Oosthuizen, Jason Dufner, and Tiger Woods.  Oosthuizen has been playing extremely well after his Top 10 finish at Firestone last week and strong play at the British Open.  Dufner still continues to impress spectators.  The Player of Year Candidate is aiming for his 4th top 10 finish and 3rd victory of the year.  As for Mr. Woods…he is looking for major victory No. 15 and a chance to become Number 1 in the World Rankings.

Other notables to keep an eye on this week include Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson.  Johnson is looking for that first major win, and don’t rule out Mr. Keegan Bradley.   The defending champion from 2011 is hot off his win at Firestone.

Golficity’s Pick:  Because it’s a major, here are our 3 picks:   Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley, and Jason Dufner.
