The official statement on Masters.com reads as follows:
“In collaboration with the leading organizations in golf, Augusta National Golf Club has identified November 9-15 as the intended dates to host the 2020 Masters. While more details will be shared in the weeks and months to come, we, like all of you, will continue to focus on all mandated precautions and guidelines to fight against the Coronavirus. Along the way, we hope the anticipation of staging the Masters Tournament in the fall brings a moment of joy to the Augusta community and all those who love the sport.”
As for the field, the player list will remain the same as if the event were held in April, with the same professionals and amateurs who had previously qualified being extended invites for the November event.
And, if you were one of the lucky few who secured a ticket for April, you’ll still be in the door for November as Augusta will ” welcome all existing ticket holders to enjoy the excitement of Masters week.”
Sadly though, the same happy news cannot be expressed for the 2020 Augusta National Women’s Amateur which has been canceled due to the inability to overcome a number of scheduling hurdles with NCAA tournaments, the World Amateur Team Championships, and the LPGA Q-Series.
Regardless, this is a glimmer of hope for the 2020 Major season, and knowing there is some light at the end of this COVID-19 tunnel is exactly what we all needed to hear today.
