Phil Mickelson as a PGA TOUR Broadcaster Could Be the Best Idea Ever

According to Front Office Sports, Phil Mickelson, who is no stranger to social media, could find himself in the broadcast booth sometime this year.

Who remembers Lefty’s appearance in the booth during the 2020 PGA Championship? If so, we need more of that.

According to Phil’s agent Steve Loy, there are some solid signs that we could see Phil behind the microphone sooner rather than later. After all, off course he shines in this role. He’s comical, quick, and his quirkiness make him hysterical.

“Absolutely, we’re always in discussions about Phil’s future,” said Loy, to FrontOfficeSports.com. “It wouldn’t surprise me if in the next 12 to 24 months you might see more of Phil on the air.”

Phil was born for this role. Who didn’t love the Amstel commercial from a few weeks ago:

In the Rough with Phil Mickelson – The Phone Number

Making friends isn’t something our new partner, Phil Mickelson, has trouble with. He’s Phil Mickelson. If you stick around, Phil might even give you a top or two on how to make some friends of your own!

Mickelson, now 50, sits with 44 PGA Tour wins over his last almost 3 decades of play. I’m sure he doesn’t want to give that up completely since we know how competitive Phil is, but maybe a broadcasting gig would be just something fun to do in the meantime.

Phil also has been showcasing that “broadcasting” personality during the Matches for charity. Look, at some point you have to take a step back, see all the amazing things you accomplished, and then realize there’s more to life than just playing the sport.

And, there’s no doubt that Phil is the right man for the job. I think a Jim Nantz – Mickelson combo would make for some solid entertainment. Sprinkle in some Faldo and you may have yourself something there.
