TOUR: Bubba Watson Roasts Patrick Reed at the Dell Match Play

Apparently, Patrick Reed seems to think him and Bubba Watson are closer than they actually are.

According to Daniel Rapaport (via Twitter), Reed asked Watson if they’d still be friends after their match play. Watson chirped back, questioning if they were ever really friends.

“On the first tee Patrick Reed asked me if we’re still going to be friends after this.

“I was like—are we friends?”

Whether it was just playful banter, or was meant as a “burn” of sorts, remains to be seen. What we do know, however, is that in order to remain competitive on TOUR, one can’t be too friendly with their competitors, because they are, after all, exactly that; competitors, who are trying to completely destroy you out on the course. 

Regardless, neither player is currently left in the WGC tournament field. Watson was bounced out of the Sweet 16, while Reed didn’t make it out of the first round. 

Who knows, maybe the two can bond over rules controversy, or complaining about mudballs.
