TRENDING: Korn Ferry Tour Players To Watch In 2022

Every year, aspiring PGA tour pros set out to compete in a grueling, multi event qualifying extravaganza to acquire their Korn Ferry Tour status.

These qualifiers require players to pass through a gauntlet of future and past tour studs.

Korn Ferry Q-School:

Consisting of three official stages throughout various locations across the U.S., plus a prequalifying stage, those fortunate enough to make to stage 3 get to step foot out onto the Korn Ferry Tour.

• Prequalifying: Yes, some players must prequalify in order to get into the qualifying stages. There are guys who are exempt from this stage such as past PGA Tour pros and returning q-schoolers from the previous year.
• Stage 1 – 2: These stages are arguably the most important. Typically top 19 or 20 + ties advance to the next stage.
• Stage 3, Finals: Top 40 and ties will earn guaranteed starts for the following Korn Ferry Tour season. Their priority ranking depends on how a player finishes in this final stage.

There are some notable players to watch out for on the Korn Ferry Tour next year. I have made a small list of players I expect to shine next year and possibly make a statement on the PGA Tour.

Michael Johnson:

Auburn grad who turned pro in 2016 and also ended up one shot short of a playoff the Barbasol Championship that same year.

Alex Weiss:

Marshal grad who won the 2021 Colorado Open and who has played on the PGA Latinoamerica Tour. He also won the first and second stage q-school qualifiers by 4 and 3 shots respectively.

This is my favorite up and coming name to look out for.

Michael Visacki:

Mini Tour legend with 37 wins on the West Florida Pro Tour.

Andy Ogletree:

GA Tech Grad who won the 2019 US Amateur. He was also the low amateur at the 2020 Masters Tournament tying for 34.

Most recently, Ogletree finished T51 in the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship.

Jonathan Byrd:

If this name sounds familiar, you aren’t crazy. Byrd has racked up 5 wins on the PGA Tour since 2002. He also secured PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Award in 2002.

Most recently, Byrd finished T20 at the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship just last weekend.
