Mickelson, Who Is Not Resigning From PGA Tour, Joins Johnson, Garcia, and Others as LIV Event Captains
We’re learning more about the format for this week’s LIV Golf Invitational Series event.
Late Monday night, it was announced that Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, and Louis Oosthuizen are among the team captains for the event that runs Thursday through Saturday at the Centurion Golf Club outside London.

In addition to the 12 captains, the rather interesting names of the four-man teams were also announced.
Prior to the start of the tournament, the captains will pick their teams in a fantasy-style draft. All 48 players will play all 54 holes of the tournament, as there is no cut. The team format is a bonus on top of the traditional individual stroke-play format.

So far, Johnson, Garcia, Oosthuizen, and Kevin Na have all resigned from the PGA Tour instead of facing discipline for choosing the LIV event over the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open this week. Mickelson said that he is hopeful to repair his relationship with the Tour and is not resigning. Mickelson and Johnson both said that they plan on playing in future majors, but Johnson would be ineligible for future Ryder Cups since he is no longer a PGA Tour member.
