The Kevin Na, Grayson Murray Twitter Beef Saga Continues…

Kevin Na is departing the PGA Tour after he resigned his membership with the organization to pursue opportunities with the LIV Golf tour. With a good track record of wins and a solid on camera personality, it’s most likely that Kevin made the jump with a decent up front payment as well.

It’s Kevin’s choice and if he’s happy with it then I wish him nothing but success. Dustin Johnson did the same thing, as did Phil Mickelson, and Rickie Fowler seems to be following suit.

But as Kevin Na exited stage left to participate in the first LIV event in London, there was a familiar nuisance chirping at the 9-time professional tournament winner. That nuisance is Grayson Murray who thought his day was best spent whipping out his phone to tweet some nonsense at Kevin.

Grayson Murray is a better golfer than me, you, and probably 99.5% of us reading this opinion piece. Currently on the Korn Ferry Tour in a blistering 91st position on the standings board, the former 2017 Barbasol Championship winner and one-time Web.com tour winner seems to continuously take umbrage with the now departed Na.

Yes, it seems like these two don’t like each other.

Yes, it seems like they’re had some pretty interesting verbal exchanges.

Yes, neither player will receive a Christmas card from the other.

Yes, this is the most useless Twitter fight in the history of pro golfer Twitter fights.

Remember when Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau were in their recent war of words? Do you know why that fued, phony as it may have felt, was actually worth something to the golf universe? It’s because these were two of the top athletes in the world duking it out on social media and even in person.

Kevin Na is a solid pro with a good track record, not all world but has enjoyed much success, including a recent win at the 2021 Wyndham Championship. Grayson Murray is (so far) a one-hit-wonder Tour winner and that top billing weekend can never be taken away from him.

Murray has tried to roll back his comments on Sunday with an “apology” which really showed that he’s more jealous of Na’s success and opportunity than anything.

It’s exceedingly likely that Grayson Murray will always have a far bigger history book written about his golf career than I will. Grayson is also right when he finishes his “apology” with a statement that he does not suck at golf.

However, Grayson’s tweets and social media animosity come off as childish drivel written by a player that when golf fans see stories of a social media beef by Murray have to ask themselves, “Who?”
