Branden Grace and Carlos Ortiz were battling it out this weekend with Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson looming on their heels. But it in the end it was Grace who came in the clutch playing some fabulous golf on the final stretch of holes.

Branden birdied 15 and played a superb shot on 16 that saved him from losing the tournament after a short iron shot into the 16th green didn’t hold the green and trickled into the rough.

The pitch shot was not an easy one by any means, Grace played it perfectly and holed out for birdie! Then, he went on to birdie the 17th hole to take a 3 shot lead over Carlos Ortiz.

Grace pulled driver on the 18th hole which surprised the announcers because it’s a move that has plagued players over the past weeks when doing so, notably in the PGA Championship and Travelers Championship.

However, he delivered and split the fairway!

Grace proceeded to hit his second shot safely on the green with water on the left-hand side of the green. He two-putted and took home $4 million with a new trophy added to his collection. With a Carlos Ortiz birdie on 18, he finished just two shots off of Grace winning $2,125,000 million.

Team Stingers now have shown early dominance by winning the first two individual titles with Charl Schwartzel winning the inaugural event in London. This weekend they finished second in the team event, 7 shots behind the first place finishing team. Certainly a hot start for the Stingers.

In the team competition Team Aces took the “W” with players Dustin Johnson, Talor Gooch, Patrick Reed and Pat Perez. The team collectively shot -23 with DJ and Reed leading their squad shooting -9 each. Team Aces will split the $3 million event prize purse equally among each other.

The next LIV tournament is to be held July 29th-July 31st in New Jersey at Trump National Bedminster.
