Fantasy Golf Sleeper Report – 2022 Sanderson Farms Championship
2022 Sanderson Farms Championship Fantasy Sleeper Report
This outstanding generation of American golfing talent earned their stripes once again last week with a comfortable five-point win in the Presidents Cup.
In truth, Team USA far outmatched their gallant but limited International opponents, and once again Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas showed their class in the rarefied air of matchplay golf.
And what an effort from Max Homa too, who won four points from four a week after notching his fifth PGA TOUR title at the Fortinet Championship. You sense the Californian will become a stalwart of this USA team for years to come.
As for the International team, the standout star was the ever-mercurial Si Woo-Kim, who downed Thomas in singles action and who played some fantastic chest-out, chin-up golf. It will be interesting to see if the Korean can springboard from that in the weeks ahead.
There’s an understandable dearth of Presidents Cup talent at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Defending champion Sam Burns, who may have felt a little disappointed by his efforts in the matchplay arena, will look to retain, while former Sanderson Farms winner Sebastian Munoz and Christiaan Bezuidenhout make up the rest of the Presidents Cup participants in the field this week.
This is an event that has that low key, almost under-the-radar feel to it, and that has been reflected in the rollcall of winners at the Country Club of Jackson. Burns was the sportsbook jolly 12 months ago, but prior to him Sergio Garcia (66/1), Sebastian Munoz (55/1), Cameron Champ (45/1) and Ryan Armour (100/1) all won at meaty odds. Opportunity knocks for the outsiders and the underdogs.
Champ and Armour won at the same layout? Yep, the long and the short can both prosper at CC of Jackson, where the Par 5 holes are so long that nearly all the field will need three shots to knock it close – that, generally, takes away the advantage of the bombers.
That said, with a 330-yard Par 4 on the real estate there’s still an edge to be found in those that can get some hang time off the tee – especially as this week’s host venue is shorn of major obstacles. The rough is forgiving, the sand coverage is sparse and water is in play on five holes at best….allied to wide fairways, you can see why a winning score of -18 or lower is routine at the Country Club of Jackson.
The Bermuda greens run at a fair clip but then they are pure and smooth, and so full value is gained from well-struck nudges with the flat stick.
All things considered, the Sanderson Farms Championship is a putting contest that all lengths can win….that’s both a blessing and a curse for bettors, but even so we take these five players from our Sanderson Farms Championship 2022 sleeper shortlist into battle with confidence.

Harris English – 50/1 – There are plenty of shrewd judges who believe Harris English deserves his seat at golf’s top table, and events like the Sanderson Farms Championship provide ample opportunity to prove it.
What was interesting about his top-ten return at the Fortinet Championship is that English appeared to have added yards to his game off the tee, and whether that is a deliberate ploy or not it’s certainly intriguing from an excellent ball-striker with a sure hand on the greens.
A two-time winner on the TOUR in 2020-21, English has the credentials to win top-tier events like the TOUR Championship….this Sanderson Farms renewal is a marked step down in class from that.
Wyndham Clark – 60/1 – There are but a few events a season where Wyndham Clark really feels like a smart play.
But the Sanderson Farms Championship is one of them, given his length off the tee and reliable putting stroke.
Clark has performed admirably at Colonial and Detroit GC, two of our correlating courses, and while it hasn’t quite worked out for him at the Country Club of Jackson, this is a venue where his natural attributes can thrive.
Justin Lower – 70/1 – Justin Lower was a solid presence at the top of the leaderboard at the Fortinet Championship, and he went the distance with more experienced campaigners in Homa and Willett.
That continued a fine season on the Korn Ferry Tour, and so confidence is surely coursing through the veins of the 33-year-old right now.
Excellent from the 125-150 yard range and a solid putter, Lower boasts the credentials of a player that finished 46th on TOUR last season for Birdie Average – he will surely enjoy the opportunities on offer at the Country Club of Jackson.
Andrew Putnam – 75/1 – Although lacking in distance off the tee, Andrew Putnam’s approach game from mid to long range is generally very good – he could fall into the Ryan Armour category of contenders this week.
An excellent putter on Bermuda greens, Putnam finished last season with a form line of 23-5-27-11 and in good company too, so for his limitations in length he is still able to make it work for him.
Strong putters of the ball have to be respected this week, and Putnam is up there with the very best of them in this field.
Dylan Frittelli – 125/1 – With a T6 finish to his name at this venue and form at our other correlating courses, Dylan Frittelli’s name popped up in our analysis this week.
The South African fits the Country Club of Jackson profile, with long tee shots and respectable approaches from the 75-150 yard mark giving way to a solid putting stroke that does seem to fire best on Bermuda.
It’s been a long time between drinks for Frittelli, but he is a player who has won out of nowhere on the PGA and DP World Tours before.
