DP World Tour Player Had a Wild Round Leading to Colorful Scorecard

The owner of that colorful scorecard was DP World Tour Winner Daniel Gavins. The 31-year-old reeled off three birdies in 4 holes, but then the debacle began on the 8th hole. He matched that hole with a score of 8 with a wayward tee shot that forced him to punch out a few extra chips around the green.

However, that did not deter Gavins from getting back to even par on the 193-yard, par 3, 9th hole.

Gavins stepped up to the 9th tee, locked in, and hit the shot he wanted, but was likely more than he could envision. He landed the ball in the perfect spot on the green that rolled perfectly into the hole for an ace!

Talk about a quick turnaround. This may have been what kept his round together to turn in an even-par 71, giving him a T-69th after round 1, leaving him roughly in the middle of the pack. Plenty of positives for Gavins to capitalize in Round 2 of the Acciona Open de España presented by Madrid.

The lead is currently held by Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Darius Van Driel, with U.S. Open Winner Jon Rahm hot on their trail, being only one off the pace.
