23-Year-Old Pulls Off Cinderella Story on DP World Tour

Englishman Dan Bradbury didn’t have any status on the DP World Tour before this event and was offered a sponsor invite to be able to participate in the Joburg Open. This was Bradbury’s third start on the DP World Tour. His last start he finished T-13 in October. Dan Bradbury was able to take successes away from that event and win for the first time in three starts.

Bradbury didn’t just win, he won wire-to-wire by three shots. Talk about making the most of a sponsor’s exemption. This is life-changing for him as it gives him a 2-year exemption on the DP World Tour and a spot in the 151st Open Championship. A lot to look forward to in the upcoming year of 2023 and the closing months of this calendar year.

Bradbury had this to say about appreciation for the sponsor’s invite and huge win:

“It means the world, I wouldn’t be stood here without it. I wouldn’t have anywhere to play this year without it. It’s been life changing. Hopefully I make the most of it. I wasn’t as bad as I thought I was going to be. Before the round, I was a little bit worse. Once we got going and started nice, it settled the nerves.”

“It won’t sink in for a few days, I don’t think. It’s just a lot of pressure taken off your back, that’s nice. I just enjoyed it, a lot of good golf, it was just a great week all round. Just drawing on experiences from college golf, just played solid golf, didn’t try and do anything I couldn’t do.”

Bradbury will have this experience at the Joburg Open, knowing that he can win on the DP World Tour. Nothing can quite replicate the feeling coming down the stretch. Golf fans will see a lot more of Dan Bradbury next year. This win will push him from nearly 1400th in world ranking points to being projected inside the top 600.
