EQUIPMENT: Cobra Teases Darkspeed Lineup for 2024
November 13th must have been circled on a few corporate calendars because TaylorMade and Cobra both had their new drivers appears on the USGA List of Conforming Driver Heads. But unlike TaylorMade, it appears that Cobra Golf brought out their entire 2024 lineup for approval.

Listed under the “Darkspeed” name, the lineup (as of this moment) appears to consist of three different models, with two models also have two variations. Going from left to right, there is the Darkspeed LS (Version 1), Darkspeed LS (Version 2), Darkspeed Max, Darkspeed X (Version 1) and Darkspeed X (Version 2). Presuming Cobra follows in the AEROJET’s footsteps, we can presume that the LS models will feature a lower launch, lower spin and fade-biased ball flight, the X models will feature a mid launch, low spin and neutral ball flight and the Max will feature a higher launch, low/mid-spin and draw-biased ball flight.
All five models feature a carbon sole with “Darkspeed” logoing near the toe side, and the specific model labeled on the heel side. Additionally, each of the Darkspeed models feature Cobra’s PWR-BRIDGE, PWRSHELL and H.O.T. Face Technologies. With respect to the former, PWR-BRIDGE is a fully suspended bridge weight design that enables unrestricted flexibility of the face and sole, and positions the CG low and forward to unleash faster ball speeds. PWRSHELL and H.O.T. Face work together and are Cobra’s A.I. computer-designed face technology that, from data collected during thousands of impact simulations, creates multiple zones with perfected thicknesses to increase ball speed and stabilize spin across a larger area of the face.
From there, the models start to separate themselves with the uniquely positioned weights that likely will complement the corresponding design philosophy (e.g., low launch, low spin vs. high launch, high forgiveness).
Both Darkspeed LS models are listed in 8°, 9° and 10.5° standard loft options, the Darkspeed Max and Darkspeed X (Version 1) models are both listed in 9°, 10.5° and 12° and the Darkspeed X (Version 1) model in 9° and 10.5°. Each of these models appear to be equipped with Cobra’s adjustable loft sleeve that allows for trajectory and spin fine tuning with each stated loft adjustable up to 1.5° in either direction.
As demonstrated by the TaylorMade Qi10 and Cobra Darkspeed both appearing on the USGA Conforming List this morning, the 2024 equipment launches are going to start coming in fast and furious. As a result, make sure to follow Golficity so you don’t miss out on any of new releases as they keep rolling out.
