LIV Golf Nashville Recap: Hatton Is First-Time Winner as Rahm Fumes Over Drone

After several close calls in the past few years on the PGA Tour, Tyrrell Hatton got the job done in Nashville, Tennessee, this weekend.

The Englishman, who is in his first year on the LIV tour, ran away and hid on Sunday at LIV Golf Nashville, winning by six strokes over fellow countryman Sam Horsfield for his first win in the U.S. since the 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Since last winning at Bay Hill, Hatton was runner-up three times on the PGA Tour before jumping to LIV for the 2024 season. It was the biggest payday of Hatton’s career, pocketing $4 million for the win plus a share of another $3 million for leading the Legion XIII team to victory.

Hatton, who tied for the second-largest winning margin in LIV history, said:

“Having not won for three and a half years, you wonder if you’d be able to do it again in some way. It’s a pretty special feeling to win again.”

After a popular U.S. Open win, there was no letdown for Bryson DeChambeau, who was in a four-way tie for third with Joaquin Niemann, Lee Westwood, and Jon Rahm, the captain of Legion XIII.

While Rahm picked up $1 million for the third-place finish and he was able to play following a foot infection that caused him to withdraw from the U.S. Open, the Spaniard showed some frustration during this winless (so far) season.

LIV Golf’s slogan is “Golf, but louder.” Apparently, the buzz of the drones is too loud for Rahm.

But despite not winning yet, Rahm moved up to second in the LIV season standings, behind Niemann, who is leading. Hatton is in third.

After a two-week break, the LIV tour heads to Valderrama in Spain from July 12 to 14.
