Cam Young Shows Why Keeping Your Emotions In Check Is Important on the Golf Course
Cam Young showed why keeping your emotions in check on the golf course is very important — for him, it (potentially) cost him his first PGA TOUR win.
Young is arguably one of the best young players on TOUR, but he has yet to break through and get his first victory. He has come very close at small tournaments, like this past weekend at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and in big ones, like the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews, where he finished second to Cam Smith.
On Sunday, Young found himself in prime position to take home his first trophy in Detroit. However, an errant tee shot caused some frustration, and as he leaned on his driver, the shaft cracked, taking the club out of play for the rest of the round:

Young was one back of leader Akshay Bhatia at the time of the tee shot on the 14th, but the simple loss of control and letting his emotions get the best of him cost him one of his clubs and a distinct distance advantage that he would have over his three wood for the remainder of the round.
Young would end up finishing T6, going +1 on the day.
