Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup Redemption Could Come as Captain America
Keegan Bradley was snubbed from last year’s Ryder Cup team despite having a better year on the PGA TOUR than several of his counterparts who made the team.
His shot at redemption is expected to come in 2025 as he is now rumored to lead the Americans, according to a new report from Sports Illustrated.
Bradley has played on two Ryder Cup teams, once in 2012 and another in 2014, but last year was expected to be his third appearance.
The call came from Zach Johnson as he told Bradley that he would not make the team, and the U.S. would travel with Justin Thomas, Sam Burns, and Jordan Spieth, all three of which had years that were not as impressive as Bradley:
“I could tell by the response from Zach when I answered the phone that I wasn’t on the team. I’m super bummed out. I thought I put together a really good year with two wins…I’m proud of what I’ve done. I think JT is a generational talent. I am pulling for the U.S. team.”
Along with SI‘s report, Golficity has also heard through sources that Keegan will be named Ryder Cup captain tomorrow. It is his best shot at redemption, aiming to best the same captain who denied him what was supposed to be his third appearance.
An Ideal Choice
Bradley will undoubtedly have a chip on his shoulder going into this Ryder Cup as captain. Being left off the 2023 team was perhaps one of the biggest robberies in recent memory, and as documented on Full Swing, the choice was one that evidently broke Bradley’s heart.
He definitely expected to be in Rome.
However, this could be what the Ryder Cup Task Force saw as a premier opportunity to regain possession of the Cup after the embarrassment the Europeans handed the Americans in Rome:

Now, Bradley has a chance for the best redemption possible: to outdo the disappointing performance of the Zach Johnson-led Americans, to regain the Ryder Cup on home soil, and to give American fans what they want, which is to put the best team out there in an effort to defeat the Europeans.
Although Bradley has not yet been announced as the captain, he will likely be confirmed tomorrow. The Americans will make their Captain official tomorrow at 12 p.m. EDT.
