These PGA TOUR Players Missed the FedEx Cup Playoffs — Some Might Shock You

These PGA TOUR players missed the FedEx Cup Playoffs and a couple of the names we are going to mention just might shock you.

A handful of players were set to have a last-chance opportunity to make the Top 70 and play their way into the FedEx Cup Playoffs and a chance at a massive purse.

However, several of those players who were flirting with the cut line this past weekend came up short at the Wyndham Championship, and we have unfortunately seen them for the last time this year:

Webb Simpson

Webb Simpson had just one Top 25 finish this year in 12 events played, so it's no wonder that he missed the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Simpson missed the cut at -2.

Matt Kuchar

Despite an extremely odd decision to not finish his final hole on Sunday, Kuchar will also be heading home.

He is projected to finish 103rd in the standings, and depending on his finish on Monday morning, he will see only one benefit: a potential $100,000 pay jump if he birdies his last hole.

Rickie Fowler

We truly thought that his win at the Rocket Mortgage last year, along with a Top 5 at the 2023 U.S. Open, as well as a Ryder Cup team appearance last year, all meant Rickie Fowler was back.

However, he still struggled to find his footing in 2024. Fowler had just two Top 25 finishes this year in 20 events, and he will miss the playoffs with a 106th-place projection, 36 places out of the running.

Rickie is a fan favorite, but it is no secret his game has truly not been the same for some time. One of the hottest up-and-comers on TOUR at one point, his focus on being a family man may have taken over (and who can truly blame him?).

Andrew Putnam

Andrew Putnam will also miss the FedEx Cup Playoffs, finishing just two spots back in 72nd. He missed six cuts in 21 events this year and just failed to get consistent through the 2024 season.

We hope to see him improve on some of his weak points.

Davis Riley

Despite a win at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Riley finished 71st -- nothing but pain as he is just one spot shy.

Riley also failed to be consistent this year and only accumulated two Top 25 finishes -- one of which was his triumph at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
