Callaway Golf Balls: Which Model is Best for Your Game?
Callaway’s golf balls are among the most-used on TOUR, trailing that of only Titleist. However, the models available have been responsible for several wins on the PGA TOUR this year, including two Majors, both won by Xander Schauffele.
Here are the features of each, as you can choose your preferred feel, spin, and ball flight and decide which is best for you:
Chrome Tour
The Chrome Tour is a premium ball comparable to the Titleist Pro V1. It is engineered for ball flight, spin, and greenside control consistency.
The new Hyper Fast Core is engineered for better players who want long distance and a softer feel, but not as soft as you might suspect. The cover is a High-Performance Tour Urethane Soft cover, which helps add spin and provides control.

Features
- Consistent ball flight
- High spin with 60 to 100-yard wedge shots
- Solid distance
- Firmer feel
Chrome Tour X
The Chrome Tour X is comparable to the Titleist Pro V1x. Callaway emphasizes its versatility throughout the bag while also equipping the Hyper Fast Soft Core for maximum ball speed and distance, especially with the driver. It is a firmer ball than the Chrome Tour and is truly beneficial if you can keep your ball flight down on your own.

Features
- Solid workability
- Good distance off the tee
- Consistent
- Similar spin to Chrome Tour
- Firmer feel than Chrome Tour
Chrome Soft
The Chrome Soft was my favorite ball of the Callaway lineup, which is not a surprise considering I switched to AVX this year and have enjoyed the soft feel and low spin, which has helped me with distance and ball flight.

Once again, I loved this ball’s amount of spin and consistency. It kept the ball down and was more comparable to AVX. If you get the Triple Track set, you might enjoy the visibility it helps with putting.
Features
- Incredibly soft feel
- Low spin (if you need greenside bite, this might not be the right ball)
- Consistent feel
