Max Homa ROASTED the TOUR Championship format and the PGA TOUR in a single, legendary Tweet last night.

The PGA TOUR posted on X that Scottie Scheffler, who had the lead in the FedEx Cup points race and started the TOUR Championship with a two stroke lead at -10 over Xander Schauffele, had held the largest lead after the first 18 holes of a TOUR event.

Scheffler leads by seven strokes.

However, Max Homa did not find that it was something to be particularly enthusiastic about. He felt that, because of Scheffler’s two-stroke advantage at the start of the TOUR Championship, there truly is not much of a real record there:

The only thing is, the tournament was tied after one hole, as Scheffler bogeyed the first and Schauffele birdied it. The pair sat at -9 on the second tee box.

The format of the TOUR Championship staggers the field based on their position in the FedEx Cup Points Standings. The higher you are in the standings, the more strokes you start under par. Scheffler starts at -10.

Scheffler fired a -6 yesterday to have a seven-shot lead over Collin Morikawa, who overtook Schauffele for 2nd after a -5.
