LIV Golf’s Team Championship Outperforms BMW PGA Championship on TV
LIV Golf’s Team Championship outperformed the BMW PGA Championship on both of the events’ final days, TV ratings revealed.
The LIV Golf Team Championship had 128,000 viewers, while the BMW PGA Championship had just 119,000. It was also outpaced by the LPGA Tour’s Kroger Queen City Championship, which drew 127,000, SportsTVRatings reported.
LIV’s Saturday ratings were even better, with 176,000 viewers. The drop is likely due to many switching to football on Sunday:

LIV’s Team Event was also available during the normal timeslot for golf, meaning the afternoon. With the DP World Tour’s BMW PGA Championship being broadcast in the earlier timeslot throughout the weekend due to the tournament being held in Europe, there were perhaps weaker ratings.
This is not proven, though.
After all, the LIV Golf Team Championship drew positive reactions from many fans, who commended the event’s format. There were also several notable upsets, including the Iron Heads, who took out Brooks Koepka’s much-higher-seeded Smash GC in the first round.

It is a strong sign of things for LIV, and even if it outperformed the DP World Tour event on its weakest day, that event was much more accessible than the LIV event, which is available on the CW.
