Rory McIlroy’s First Received Text After Winning The Masters
Rory McIlroy won The Masters last month, completing the Career Grand Slam after 11 attempts.
The first person to text him after accomplishing the feat likely will not surprise you, and what they said was the perfect five-word summation of the entire situation.
McIlroy’s first text on his phone was from friend and former idol, Tiger Woods, who said to him, “Welcome to the club, kid.”
The Grand Slam winner revealed the text during the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last week:

It is no surprise that McIlroy’s first text was from Woods, who was also the first to get in touch with him after the TOUR Championship a few years back. This was detailed in the Season 1 finale of Netflix’s Full Swing.
McIlroy joined a club of just five other golfers to win the Career Grand Slam: Tiger Woods, Gene Sarazen, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, and Gary Player.
