Fantasy Golf Picks, Odds, and Predictions for the 2015 Frys.com Open
Welcome Back!
It’s only been a few short weeks, but we’re officially back to doing what we love so much; picking fantasy golf winners. In the 2014-2015 season (which officially ended two weeks ago at East Lake) we picked 14 totals winners including all four majors and successfully picked 75 Top 10s (26%) and 39 Top 3s (13.2%) making it our best fantasy season to date. In total, 81% of our picks made the cut which has helped lead to many of our Premium Members cashing in nicely on DraftKings and in other major fantasy leagues.
After a short break for the President’s Cup it’s officially go-time again this week and we’re ready to come out of the gates swinging. We’re sure the 2015 Frys.com will make for an interesting week, especially with Rory in the mix.
The 2015 Frys.com Open Fantasy Preview
As mentioned, Rory McIlroy, who hasn’t been in the spotlight much over the last few months with the towering performances from guys like Day, Spieth, Fowler and Stenson, will be back in contention this week. Rory finished 15th in the final FedExCup ranks after missing two months from a rough ankle ligament injury that occurred during a friendly soccer game.
Both Rory and Tiger made the commitment to play this event however Tiger will be sidelined for a while due to his recent back surgery.
It’s easy enough to downplay the Fall Season events but remember that it’s here where guys like Walker and Bae have catapulted themselves atop the FedExCup points list early and earn crucial points for making a run during the playoffs later in the season.
We have a good feeling that 2015-2016 could be Rory’s season and to get solidly back into the spotlight, regain some dominance, and take back the World No. 1 spot.
The Field
The field won’t be boring this week with names like Rose, McIlroy, Thomas, Mahan, and Matsuyama all making the trip to California for the Frys.com Open. That said, this will be a challenging field to pick against this week without a doubt.
Matsuyama is one of three President’s Cup players to hop a flight to Napa right from the event in Korea last weekend. Kirk and Schwartzel will join the field from Korea and your usual suspects like Bohn, Perez, Knox, Every, as well as a few Web.com grads will all take a crack at some early season points.
The Course
Silverado Resort & Spa (North Course) will play to 7,203 yards as a par 72. This beautiful spot was first converted into a resort in the 1960s, right around the time that Robert Trent Jones Jr. signed on to build two courses on the land.
The PGA TOUR has frequented this course regularly since 1968 and it wasn’t long ago that Johnny Miller bought the property and still remains very involved with the day-to-day activities.
A notoriously “easy” track means that we’re confident you’ll see some low numbers this week. Big hitters should fair particularly well at Silverado this week and we could see some 65 and 64’s out there so be ready for a shootout in California’s wine country.

Weather Forecast for Napa, CA
Look for nothing but blue skies and sun with temperatures in the 80’s and not a drop of rain in the forecast all week. You’ve gotta love Napa this time of year!
Last Year’s Results from the Frys.com Open
With the wind swirling in Napa last year, Sang-Moon Bae fought off Steven Bowditch’s late surge and went on to win his second PGA TOUR Event.
Bae, who was the day 2 star from the recent President’s Cup, held on to a large lead which almost disappeared after a couple of bogeys on 14 and 15.

Other sites like StarsDraft and FantasyFeud will also be back again this week with smaller contests.
This Week’s Fantasy Notes for the Frys.com Open
You will have to choose between Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy as your horse pick this week because as they both come in the one and two spots on DraftKings with regards to salary.
There are plenty of excellent players in the field that will probably be cheap picks with solid chances to win so picking the obvious this week may not be your best option. That said, be sure to check out our predictive fantasy stats page to help you find the players with the highest GPFP in each salary bracket.

Top 5 Picks/Odds to Win the Frys.com Open
Justin Rose (Golficity Odds 6/1 FPPG: 73.63 GPFP: 92.78 DraftKings Salary: $12,000):
Rose is arguably the hottest player in the field this week coming off his T2 at East Lake. We’ve been following this guy closely over the break and he hasn’t given up his workouts or practice sessions in the mini off-season. In all Rose had seven top four finishes last season and ranked ninth in GIR and seventh in birdies or better. JRose annihilated Par-5s last season and knows how to climb a leaderboard to contend on Sunday. We’re picking him over Rory in the horse-pick slot this week.
Hideki Matsuyama (Golficity Odds 12/1 FPPG: 77.17 GPFP: 78.71 DraftKings Salary: $10,800):
Matsuyama is one of the three players coming in from South Korea but on the losing side of the President’s Cup. Hideki went 2-1-1 in Korea last week after recording four top 25s in the four 2015 FedExCup Playoff events. He knows this course well as evidenced by his excellent past performances here, including a T3 2014. During the 2014 installment he led the field in ball-striking. At under $11k Hideki is a solid pickup this week on any roster.
Justin Thomas (Golficity Odds 18/1 FPPG: 70.22 GPFP: 90.58 DraftKings Salary: $9,300):
It wasn’t the young rookie’s week here last year but we can certainly say that 2015 ended up being his year. Thomas just missed the nod for ROY honors to Daniel Berger and overall he had a very impressive rookie season. Justin hits the ball a mile off the tee and certainly has what it takes to be a multiple winner on TOUR. We love these guys during the fall season because this is when they shine (before guys like Fowler, Mickelson, Spieth, Day, Scott, etc come back into the field). JT’s huge 90.58 GPFP could be a sign of a very strong week given his excellent recent performance wrapping up the 2015 season.
Brook Koepka (Golficity Odds 22/1 FPPG: 76.36 GPFP: 79.41 DraftKings Salary: $10,600):
Although Brooks banked us plenty of fantasy points in 2015 he did disappointed us a bit as he made his way through through the Playoffs. Regardless, Koepka was able to string together a solid showing in Scotland two weeks ago with a T2 finish at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Last year at Silverado, Brooks finished T8 to kick off the season and ended up winning his first PGA TOUR event in Scottsdale later that same season. He’s one of the best players in the field this week and is reasonably priced at $10,600 after his lackluster playoffs performance. Buy his stock while it’s down for sure.
Daniel Berger(Golficity Odds 28/1 FPPG: 58.85 GPFP: 57.27 DraftKings Salary: $8,900):
Berger must be beaming with confidence after snatching the Rookie of the Year award a few weeks ago. Not a bad finish in the Playoffs with a in T12-2nd-T12m but he misses cuts a lot which concerns us (14 MC in 2014-2015) and is most likely why he’s sporting such a low price tag in Napa this week. We’re hoping to catch some lightning in a bottle with a confidence-packed ROY in the spotlight at a kickoff event.
Sleeper Pick/Odds to Win the Frys.com Open
Robert Streb (Golficity Odds 44/1 FPPG: 69.62 GPFP: 84.24 DraftKings Salary: $9,200):
Streb fell apart in the 2015 FedExCup Playoffs but prior to that he managed to string together a career season last year. His successful year all started with his T31 at Silverado in 2014 where he attacked the greens in regulation like a man on a mission. At $9,200 and with a promising 84.24 GPFP Streb is a solid fantasy player set to earn some serious points for your rosters this week.
Salary Cap League Sleeper Pick/Odds to Win the Frys.com Open
Tony Finau (Golficity Odds 60/1 FPPG: 63.86 GPFP: 81.73 DraftKings Salary: $9,200):
Here’s a guy who arrived late to the TOUR last year as a rookie and made his name known right away. Finau was another ROY contender who fizzled a bit in the playoffs but got serious hot in the weeks leading leading up to The Barclays. Tony had 10 top 25s in 12 consecutive starts heading in to the Playoffs and finished T12 here last year where he dominated par-5s. At just over $9k and with a GPFP of 81.73 Finau is a solid sleeper pick this week for any roster.
