Tony Romo is Trying to Play in the 2017 U.S. Open
According to Ed Werder, Tony Romo is once again trying to qualify for the U.S. Open next week.
Romo has attempted to qualify previously in 2010, 2011, and 2012. In his first attempt in 2010, he did make it to Sectionals, but weather delays caused him to withdraw due to a Dallas Cowboys conflict.

That obviously won’t be an issue this time around considering Tony is no longer in the NFL.
So what are the odds the four-time Pro-Bowl quarterback makes his way to Erin Hills next month?
While there are seven spots and two alternates available in the single-round competition and he can play a little bit, last month he shot 78-77-77 to miss a 54-hole cut at the Azalea Invitational in South Carolina. So the odds are probably not great.
While it would make for a pretty fun story, I doubt we’ll be seeing him on national television anywhere other than an NFL broadcast booth in the near future.
