Smylie Kaufman Proposes to Longtime Girlfriend Francie Harris on Golf Course
This season on the PGA TOUR, there has been a lot of attention paid to the young generation taking over the game of golf. That was certainly the focus this weekend with Justin Thomas winning the PGA Championship but another of the SB2K17 crew made his own news this past weekend weekend.
Smylie Kaufman did not qualify for the PGA Championship this past weekend so he had a little more time on his hands than usual. He decided to use that time to plan a special surprise for his longtime girlfriend Francie Harris. While he wasn’t playing golf this weekend, he did take Harris to Shoal Creek Golf Course where he had a table and pictures of the two together set up at the no. 14 tee box. There, Kaufman asked her to marry him.
“From getting dropped off by your parents for our first date to long distance during college and now traveling the world with ya! I can’t wait to have many more adventures with you on this incredible journey! Love ya Fran and can’t wait to marry you,” Kaufman described his new fiance over Instagram. The post also included several pictures of the two lovers in the moment and over the course of their relationship.
While Kaufman isn’t as talked about as some other players on the PGA TOUR, he is most known for the antics that he does with some other big names, such as Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, and Justin Thomas. The group of four has gone on Spring Break together two years in a row now and recorded the whole thing for fans to see. Kaufman is typically the goofiest one of the group, winning MVP of the trip the first time around.
He hasn’t been as successful as his friends on the course, however. Spieth, of course, is a multiple time major champion and Justin Thomas just took home his first major. Rickie Fowler, while not a major winner, is still regarded as a top player in golf. Kaufman, on the other hand, is only the ranked 150th in the world. He did, however, pick up his first PGA TOUR win last year and recently grabbed a fifth place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship.
Now that he has a beautiful new fiancé, Kaufman looks ready to take a major step in life and on the course. Hopefully, the best things are to come from this young golfer and we congratulate Smylie and Francie on their engagement.
