West Lancashire Golf Club: Our FIRST EVER True Links Experience

I’ll be honest, I knew EXACTLY what to expect in my first links golf experience the minute I set foot onto the grounds at West Lancashire Golf Club (West Lancs).  You instantly feel the punch of wind off the water and you’re engulfed in a playground of gnarly fescue. All you can think about on the first tee is, do I use driver, like, at all today?

Keeping the ball in play was ideal, but did we mention the bunkers?   As deep as you can get and a challenge like we’ve never faced.   Regardless, we agreed that this test of golf was exactly what we needed to test all facets of our golf game, including where to miss, where not to miss, how to compensate for the wind, and how to hit low shots.

In the end, we took on the challenge and lost a lot of our pride, a dozen balls, and Frank’s putter cover.  Either way, we made some new friends for life and wouldn’t change anything about the experience. Honestly, I can’t wait until our next links golf experience in a few more weeks in Scotland!
