REVIEW: Sharper Golf Putting Mat Does Not Fall Flat When It Comes To Value
Sharper Golf Putting Mat Review
No Description
When I stop to think about the amount of at home putting products, I have used I start losing count. One time I even had one of those automatic ball returners explode on me. The wire may have been a little suspect and wrapping it up while plugged in was a bad move but hey, it was a learning experience. Well over the last few months I have been using a new (to me) putting mat from Sharper golf. Awhile back I messed around with their deluxe putting mirror and shortly after that I got their branded putting mat. I had been using another brands mat for all of 2019 so I was hesitant to try something else but at the same time I was curious.
First impression of the mat when I first opened it out of the box, I wasn’t overly thrilled or pumped but I also wasn’t disappointed. It was packaged nicely, and it was delivered right to my door thanks to Amazon.

Storage and Setup
After unboxing this product and getting my first impressions I wanted to treat it like I would any other mat. Roll it up, un roll it, roll it back up… you get it. I currently live in a condo and space is limited so I don’t have the room to have something laying on the floor. I need something that I can easily put away and take out when I need to. After over two months of this I can say that this mat has zero creases in it. It has unrolled flawlessly every single time. Not only that, the mat continues to lay down flat. No bumps, no tears and it seems to keep my huskie’s hair off it pretty well too. From a storage and setup perspective this passes with flying colors.
Practice
Let’s talk about practice (I know you just heard Allen Iverson, didn’t you?) and how to maximize it. The Sharper golf mat rolls out to about 9 feet end to end. It has the distance indicated on the mat every foot with 3 circular targets printed directly onto the mat. You can setup at any distance, from any spot and work on putting to your spots. The numbers are printed on both sides of the mat in different directions so you can even do this with someone else on the other side. I personally have grown fond of putting to an actual target when I practice my putting, so I started laying down the micro putting mirror on the spot I want to put to. That’s when I try to get the ball to land right inside the spot where you put the ball. If you get used to doing that, the actual hole on the course will seem like a swimming pool. Because it comes with that micro putting mirror you get to work on your setup and your stroke all with one kit. When it comes to the mats practice ability and ways you can improve your game through practice, this part also passes with flying colors.
Bonus
Practice is better when you make it fun right? Nobody will learn by not making their practice challenging and fun. When you enjoy what you’re doing, its more likely you will want to do it more often. Sharper golf came up with three mini games you can play with this mat to make your practice sessions a bit more fun. Inside the packaging is a piece of paper that explains how you can use the mat to play a few training games. My favorite game is King of the hill. Its so easy that a child can do it. No really, because I played it with my son. There is a section in the middle that you putt to and players take turn putting to the middle, trying to get their ball to stop on the line. Players do this from both sides of the mat and can knock the other players ball out of the scoring area. I found this to be a lot of fun because not only was I practicing my speed control, but I was bringing this game to my kid in a way that they didn’t realize they where practicing golf. Sneaky move by Sharper Golf but I like it.
My only complaint I have with this mat is that the packaging is not overly thrilling. At first glace it looks to be cheap but after using it for a few months I can honestly say that it is a solid product. The product is well designed, the ball rolls smoothly and its easily packed up and put away. This putting mat is 100% worth trying if you’re looking to get a putting mat for your home use. To top it off, its available via amazon.com for $69.99. it comes with a putting mat, instructions, micro putting mirror, two ball line drawer clips and a carrying case. It’s a great value and worth purchasing if you’re interested.
