BETS: Matchups, Faders, Straight Up Winners, & More // Workday Charity Open
Say what you will about him, but Byrson DeChambeau has become one of the most unique and remarkable players we may ever see in the game of golf.
I had another good week of matchup picks and went 2-0 as Patrick Rodgers beat Harry Higgs and Doc Redman beat Harold Varner III, but the Puerto Rico curse did not end with my winner, Viktor Hovland. Futures are always an added bonus, but the matchups are where you really make the money, but let’s try to sprinkle a few winners in there as well.
To Win The Workday Charity Open: Patrick Cantlay (+1300)
This is a pick that I’m pretty high on this week. Obviously, a winner is a tough one to gage, but Patrick Cantlay won at this course just last year at The Memorial. Different tournament, same course (virtually). He’s coming off of a T11 in his first start since the return of the Tour at The Traveler’s, and his stats in SG: approach and off the tee will always make him a good pick to contend for a win.
To Finish Top 10: Brooks Koepka (+200)
As you guys know, I was incredibly high on Brooks Koepka going into The Traveler’s before his caddy tested positive for COVID-19. He’s incredible off the tee (18th in SG: OTT) and he’s a great long iron player. He’s another guy I am very high on contending, and possibly even winning this week.
Tournament Matchups:
Adam Hadwin (-137) over Billy Horschel
On paper, both of these guys have all the stats for this course. They rank very high in strokes gained off the tee as well as approaching the green, but Hadwin has the edge in putting as he’s 23rd in strokes gained putting. On top of that, Hadwin has been playing a lot better since the return of the Tour, and Horschel has missed 2 of 3 cuts.
Byeong Hun An (-137) over Brandt Snedeker
Benny An has some fantastic course history here at Muirfield Village. One may even call him a course horse. He’s played here 4 times and has finished T11, T17, T25, and had a runner up finish in 2018. Sneds has been struggling mightily approaching greens, and this course has some beasts of par 4’s, so I’ll take An in this one.
LOCK OF THE WEEK: Adam Hadwin To Finish Top 40 (-125)
On The Pin High Podcast, as well as “Skins” we talked about how much we love Adam Hadwin this week, so this one is a no brainer. -125 is great value for the guy to make the cut and then have a decent weekend.
I’m feeling confident going into this week. As you’ve followed along, I’m sure you’ve noticed that I don’t always pick the winner of the tournament, but I have won my last 4 tournament matchup picks I’ve put out, so let’s keep that momentum going into the next two weeks at Muirfield Village.
