TRAINING AID: LagShot Golf Review

As a PGA Professional, I’m usually weary of using training aids with my students. Most are pretty gimmicky, and the same thing can be achieved just by using something you already have in your golf bag. But I came across the LagShot a few months ago, and was instantly intrigued. Adam Bazalgette, 3-time PGA Coach of the Year, was the featured coach in the video. I know Adam, and know that he has the same attitude towards training aids I do. So with his backing of it, I felt comfortable getting my hands on one and reviewing it. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

The LagShot can do a lot for your golf game. The club features a heavy, black club head, which allows you to feel the club head more. It also has a blue, whippy shaft which acts as its key feature. The blue shaft creates lag for you as you start your downswing, forcing you to feel how to store the created energy. But creating lag isn’t the only benefit of this club.

My favorite part about it – tempo. With the whippy shaft, it’s impossible to swing it too fast. If you attempt to swing it too hard, it’s difficult to square the club face at the bottom. The club forces you to swing with better tempo, which quickly translates to your own clubs.

With all tempo training aids, there is usually one big negative – you can’t hit balls with it. That’s where LagShot changes the game. You can bring it to the range, and actually hit balls with it. This does so much for you, but the best part is you’ll be able to feel what you need to do with your actually clubs. When using other training aids, it gives you the feel for a second, then when you pick up your own clubs, you just revert back to what you usually do. The LagShot installs the feels into your swing,  which make it easy to perform them with your own clubs.

Don’t believe me? Here are a few reviews by world renowned coaches…

“I’m always looking for something I can hand my students that lets them “feel” the mechanical improvements we are trying to make in the golf swing.  From the takeaway, to the top of the backswing, to starting the downswing and through impact, I can’t think of a single training aid that does this better than Lag Shot. It improves your tempo, swing plane, lag, and impact position. A true “all in one” high performance training club.”

“Having taught golf full time for over 30 years I’ve developed a sense of what works and what doesn’t in the ‘real world’ of helping everyday golfers.  LagShot is the ultimate training aid in this sense, because it does just that.  It delivers the proper feel to a golfer, so there is no need to bog down with conscious swing thoughts.  If you want more lag, great timing, and a smoothness to your swing, then you want to train with LagShot.”

I grew up in southern New Hampshire, where I first fell in love with the game of golf. I started by just going out and messing around with my buddies and focusing purely on having a good time! I never took golf seriously until I moved down to Tampa, FL to attend the University of South Florida. Go Bulls! At the start of my junior year I got a job working as a cart boy at a local private country club. This is when I started to focus on golf becoming my career. During the fall of my senior year, I turned from a 14 handicap, to a 2. I passed the PAT scoring test my first try and haven't looked back.

I tried the lag shot it didn’t help i’m trying to get my money back and keep getting the run around. All these teachers need to be careful what and who they support, businesses like this will also ruin their reputation.

I concur with rockiee318. I purchased the 7-iron and was pleased with the feedback I wanted in a club. I purchased in middle May of 2021 and have been trying to get a refund via the 30 day trial period they offer. I purchased this club direct from Lag Golf Golf. After leaving numerous messages asking for procedure to return I have not received a reply and numerous emails with no reply I wonder if this company is a bogie or hole in one. You would think they would honor their 30 day return don’t you. I will go to… Read more »
