Brandt Snedeker Wins the 2012 PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs
After 36 regular season tournaments, the 2012 PGA Season concluded on Sunday at East Lake Golf Club. The Top 30 FedEx Cup point leaders marched into Atlanta with one mission…to win the Tour Championship (and 29 of them hoped Rory McIlroy fell apart).
The top 5 point leaders controlled their destiny with a win on Sunday. Brandt Snedeker, one of those five, dominated on Saturday and never looked back.
Coming into the Tour Championship as the hottest player other then Rory McIlroy, Snedeker lead the field of 30 ranked No. 1 in fairways and greens hit, strokes gained from putting, and No. 2 closest to the pin from approach shots in the 2012 playoffs. He entered Sunday T1 (-8) with Justin Rose and could lock up the FedEx Cup with a win.
Everything was going his way Sunday. With a chip-in for birdie on the 17th, Snedeker slammed the door on Rose to take a three-shot lead going into the final hole. Despite putting his tee shot into the grandstands on the short par-3 18th, Snedeker bogeyed to a 2-under 68 to take the FedEx Cup trophy. Later in discussing that errant tee Snedeker joked saying, “I didn’t think about the $10 million until 18 tee. You see what that does for you?”
This huge Tour Championship and FedEx Cup simultaneous win couldn’t have gone to a better guy. When asked what he would do with the winnings Snedeker was quoted saying, “I’m not a flashy guy. Of all the people I know, I’m the last one that needs $11 million. We’ll be able to help a lot of people.”

The Ryder Cup begins on Friday Septmeber 29 at Medinah Country Club in Illinois and Snedeker will be one of the 12 golfers representing Team USA. With little time to relish in his big win, Snedeker said, “I’m playing the best golf of my career right now. But I have no illusions that I won’t be nervous next week.”
Fall Series golf is also set to kick off with the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which commences on October in Las Vegas, NV.
