Bryson DeChambeau Signs Deals with Cobra-Puma and Bridgestone

So how’s this for a week’s worth of events?  Bryson DeChambeau played in his first Masters last week and not only did his odd golf swing and unique fashion taste create a buzz among commentators, players, and fans, he also ended up winning the Low Amateur and officially turned professional the very next day.

As if the fast fame wasn’t enough from his week at the Masters, Bryson was also offered a sponsorship for clubs and apparel from Cobra Puma Golf and a golf ball (and glove) deal with Bridgestone.

When interviewed, Bryson said “These past six months were preparing me for this week and my future.”  He went on to say, “This transition should be fairly easy.  I wouldn’t say it’s going to be that easy, obviously, because there’s obstacles thrown in your way.  But we’re trying to make it as seamless and easy as possible.”

The 22-year old already has an NCAA and U.S. Amateur trophy in his display case and we’ve all seen this type of performance before by a certain fellow named Tiger Woods.  So, is he Tiger Woods material?  Well, we don’t know that just yet and his unorthodox swing makes us wonder if he’ll remain this competitive throughout his career, but heck, if it worked for Jim Furyk than why couldn’t it for this kid?

There has been no discussion of the monetary perks that come along with his new deal, but its safe to say he doesn’t have to worry much about clubs, apparel, or golf balls.

It was also nice to see some of his fellow ambassadors welcoming him to the family.

Bryson’s next stop will be next week’s Valero Texas Open, and then the AT&T Byron Nelson, Colonial, Memorial, Quicken Loans National and the Travelers Championship as he begins to make a push for his first crack at the FedExCup and secure himself a permanent (or longer) TOUR status.  We certainly see a victory in this kid’s future.
