Kaymer Looking for his First European Tour Victory this Season

With only a couple of events left in the European Tour season, former world number one Martin Kaymer is hoping to end his season on a high.

The BMW Masters is starting tomorrow, where the German is 20th in the Race to Dubai, and with a victory this weekend, he could potentially move his way up into the top 15, and also claim his first win of the season.

In a European Tour press conference, Kaymer said: “Overall, the season so far, I wouldn’t rate great because I haven’t won a tournament. I’ve had a few top tens here and there, but at the end of the day, we all play for wins.”

After an incredible year in 2014, winning two of golf’s biggest events – the Players Championship and the US Open Championship – the world ranked 26th is yet to add another victory to his collection this season.

With an impressive collection of victories such as 11 European Tour titles, three straight Ryder Cup triumphs and two Major Championships, it comes as no surprise to why Kaymer wants to keep up the good record.

He said: “I have another two tournaments left this year that count for The Race to Dubai, and then another two that I’m going to play after that, so hopefully I can pick up another win.”

“Usually, I don’t really have a season without a win and I don’t want to have that this year. I wish I could pick up one down the road.”

Talking about the upcoming BMW Masters, Martin said: “It’s not like a Major, but it’s still huge.  I’ve never won one of these events, but it would be very, very nice to win at least once in my career, and this year would be a good time to do it.”
