WATCH: Si Woo Kim Breaks Putter in Frustration; Finishes Round with 3-Wood

Generally, it’s not the best idea to smash your putter into the ground.

Si Woo Kim was forced to finish out his round without his trusty flatstick, all because of a pesky little 3-putt on the 14 hole.

The mishap on 14 upset Kim to the point that by the time me made it to 15, he’d decided he didn’t want to be friends with his putter anymore, so he proceeded to smash it into the ground until it broke, rendering it useless. Not his brightest idea considering that at the time, he was tied for 5th place.

Kim elected to use his 3-wood on the greens to finish out the round. Some would argue that the 15 hole is not the most ideal place to look for something different on the putting green, but Kim had no choice after destroying his actual putter.

With 3-wood in hand, Kim proceeded to par the final four holes, in an valiant effort to keep from falling down the scoreboard. It seems that after all, the change of “scenery” seemed to help him down the stretch, as Kim putted well enough with the metalwood to stop any residual bleeding from the 3-putt on 14.

Maybe Kim knew what he was doing after all, that sly dog.
