NEWS: Gary Player’s Son Banned From The Masters
Well, Wayne Player’s little marketing ploy caught a lot of attention, just the wrong kind!
As a follow up to an earlier article we wrote about the incident, a new development has come forward in the form of a punishment directed at Wayne Player for his ridiculous publicity stunt.
Following the controversy surrounding the ceremonial opening of the Master’s where Wayne Player, Gary Player’s son, decided to try and sell some golf balls whilst Lee Elder was being honored and recognized, it’s now been made public that Wayne will be banned from the Masters.
Although Augusta National has not issued an official statement yet, the consequence attributed to Wayne’s grotesque attempt at selling balls was first made known via Twitter, by none other than Wayne’s brother, Marc.
Agreed. Wayne has since correctly been banned from Augusta National and The Masters tournament. What a shame. What an embarrassment. What a bad decision to allow him on the first tee after years of similar shenanigans. My apologies to all.

Wayne told Golf Digest that his intent was not to undermine the ceremony, but instead showcase to fans the ball his father was playing with.
“The only thought from that point was that it would be cool for fans to know what ball my dad was teeing off with,” Wayne said “That’s where it ends. If I’ve hurt people’s feelings then I’m truly sorry and hope they will forgive me.”
Whether a sincere mistake, or purposeful ploy, Wayne Player will never attend another Masters.
