Cam Smith Ties TOUR Record, Makes Only 18 Putts over All 18 Holes
If there was ever any question in your mind just how good TOUR players are, mark it down as answered, because Cam Smith just plain showed off today during his second round at the WGC-St. Jude Invitational in Memphis. (And no, we’re not talking about his phenomenal mullet).

Obviously, the overall goal is to get the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible. Naturally, this means that you’d want to take the least amount of putts possible, too, as you make your way around the course. Enter Cam Smith. The Aussie tied a TOUR record today by taking only 18 (yes, 18) putts all day.
Smith becomes the ninth player on TOUR to do so, and the first since 2010.
A combination of sweet rolls, as well as a hole-out eagle from a bunker and a chip in from the fringe, contributed greatly to the lack of putts.
16 putts thru 17 holes.
2 putts to tie.

Yeah, it’s a pretty cool little title I guess to have next to your name,” Smith said. “I was actually hitting really nice golf shots as well that ended up just going off the green and made a few of them, and had a chip‑in there for par on 4, which kept the round going. Yeah, was seeing the putts really good today.”
Seems like a bit of an understatement, doesn’t it?
Safe to say for the rest of us mere mortals, those 18 putts would dry up real quick around hole 4.

After ending the round with a 62, Smith now sits in a tie for second place. If the putter stays hot, watch out!
