BREAKING: NYC Looks To Keep Ferry Point, But Distance From Trump
Without getting into the politics, everyone could see this one coming a mile away. Not a matter of if, just when.

Opened in 2014, Trump Ferry Point is a links-style course that covers 222-acres and plays to over 7,400 yards.
Located in the southern tip of the Bronx, the Jack Nicklaus-design course has arguably been the nicest public golf course in the immediate NYC-area, debuting at No. 2 for New York on Golfweek’s Best: State-by-State Courses You Can Play list in 2015 and, most recently, No. 77 on Golfweek’s Best Courses You Can Play in the United States list.

Unfortunately, the political turmoil from earlier this year drove NYC Mayor, Mayor Bill de Blasio, to prematurely terminate the 20-year contract between NYC and the Trump Organization.
Following a hearing held by the Parks Department and city Franchise and Concession Review Committee on October 12th, it was decided that a newly-created entity, Ferry Point Links LLC, will be awarded a 13-year Parks Department contract to run the course.
Only adding to the confusion, Ferry Point Links LLC shares the same address as CORE Services Group, a homeless shelter operator that has received nearly $800 million in taxpayer moneys during the de Blasio years, despite providing deficient housing conditions and paying a $500,000 annual salary to its operator.
While it shouldn’t be difficult for business to continue as usual for the final few weeks of the 2021 golf season, many NYC-area golfers (myself included) are left wondering, “What will Ferry Point look like in the future, 2022 and beyond?”

To explain, many other golf courses, such as Van Cortlandt, Marine Park and Dyker Beach, run under the supervision of the NYC Parks Department are, shall we say, run in a disappointing fashion. Overpriced greens fees ($70 on weekends with a cart and 5 hour+ rounds) and less than stellar conditions, including chewed-up tee boxes, garbaged-littered fairways, and divot-filled greens.
Stated differently, it would be an absolute atrocity if Ferry Point were to follow in the footsteps of NY’s other disregarded, unloved golf courses.

What is known, as of right now, is that the Trump Organization is requesting the $30 million termination fee due to the early cancellation of its contract.
Regardless how that shakes out, hopefully Ferry Point will continue in the same condition that’s helped itself among the top courses in state and country.
