The commissioner of the PGA TOUR, Jay Monahan, has finally broken his silence since Phil Mickelson’s comments last week about him and the PGA TOUR.

Monahan made it very clear that himself and the PGA TOUR have “zero complacency” when it comes to the Saudi Golf League.

In a phone interview on Wednesday, Monahan said:

“I told the players we’re moving on and anyone on the fence needs to make a decision.”

Monahan also made it very clear that any players who sign up for the Saudi Golf League will lose their PGA TOUR membership and will never be welcomed back.

Even with all of the talk of another league and the controversy with Mickelson, Monahan likes where the state of the PGA TOUR and its athletes stand right now.

Monahan said:

“I know where a lot of our athletes stand… That validation was incredibly impactful and gave us a renewed sense of optimism.”

It’ll be interesting to see how everything plays out in two weeks time as it has been rumored the players going to the Saudi Golf League will be announced during THE PLAYERS. I guess we will have to wait and see.

What are your thoughts on Monahan’s comments?
