Mexico was kind to Jon Rahm, as the world’s number 2 ranked golfer picked up a much needed win at the Mexico Open. Rahm’s victory at Vidanta Villarta was his first victory since the US Open at Torrey Pines last year, and his seventh PGA Tour win of his career.

Going wire to wire the whole tournament, Rahm, finishing at – 17 but never stomped on the gas pedal to separate himself from the field. Rahm’s successful Sunday saw him submitting a 69 on his scorecard for the final round. Tony Finau, Kurt Kitayama and Brandon Wu finished T2, at – 16 for a narrow margin of victory.

Recent struggles with his putter has held Rahm back from excelling within his world no 2 ranking, but the Mexico Open suited Rahm from the start to finish. Channeling the advice from his father, Rahm noted that golf is, “a game of misses. Whoever misses his swing or short the best is gonna end up winning.”

Congratulations to Jon Rahm on his success at the Mexico Open. Do you think Rahm has what it takes to maintain his momentum and overtake Scottie Scheffler for the number one position?
