Paige Spiranac Calls Phil Mickelson ‘Fake’ After Being Blocked by Lefty
Phil Mickelson still has his fair share of supporters, as evidenced by the majority of the gallery at the U.S. Open last week, but he’s amassed his critics as well in recent months.
Now, on top of Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and other PGA Tour pros who have had plenty to say about “Lefty” since February, one of golf’s largest personalities is weighing in.
Paige Spiranac spoke on “The Bunkered Podcast” about her interactions with Mickelson over the years, and while she said he was nice to her in person, the blocked button tells the real story.
Paige Spiranac used to be a Phil Mickelson fan.
Not anymore.

She detailed two face-to-face meetings over the years that she felt went well, but things took a turn after Mickelson won the PGA Championship last year.
“I was like, ‘Let’s go Phil’, gassing him up, saying the nicest things about him but then I was looking [on social media] and I was like, ‘I can’t freaking tag him. Why can’t I tag him?’ Spiranac said on the pod. “So, I was looking and looking and I clicked on somebody else’s tag and it said ‘blocked.’”

“He DM’d me the next day and he was like, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened. It must have been a glitch in the system’ and I was like, ‘Okay, fine, congrats on your PGA win.’ Next day, blocked again. Not only that but he blocked me on Instagram, too.”
“He just projects a certain way in his interviews and then he’s like thumbs-upping the fans. I don’t know, if he cared so much about the fans and what he’s doing, why jump ship?”
“I can already see the headlines now, Paige says Phil’s fake,’ but I think he is. …If you block me, I’m coming for you.”
Spiranac and Mickelson fans, get your popcorn ready!
