RECAP: Two Golf Majors Were Played in One Weekend
While Xander Schauffle won in dramatic fashion at the Travelers Championship, there were other things happening in the golf world. In Bethlehem, PA some great players were battling out. None other than Ryder Cup Captains Padraig Harrington and Steve Stricker going toe to toe this weekend.
Harrington, a 3-time major champion winner (‘07 Open Championship, ‘08 Open Championship, ‘08 PGA Championship) just edged out Steve Stricker at the U.S. Senior Open Championship. This is Harrington’s first victory on the PGA Tour Champions and a great one at that, being a Major Championship.

It has been quite the return for Stricker who had a health scare with inflammation on his heart which had left him sidelined for months. Nonetheless, Stricker had an emotional victory at the Regions Traditions (major) just last month. Impressive stuff given all that he has been through.

Not too far away the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was taking place in Bethesda, MD at the famous Congressional Country Club. U.S.A. star Lexi Thompson looked like she was going to pull it off, but bogeys on 3 of her last 4 holes resulted in a T-2 finish with Minjee Lee.
In Gee Chun recovered after shooting +4 on the front 9 with a -1, 35 on the back 9 to win by just one shot. She won her 3rd major at just 27 years old, a bright future ahead for In Gee Chun.
