Daniel Berger Withdraws from 150th Open – Sahith Theegala is In
Daniel Berger has been battling a nagging back injury that he disclosed back in February, that will force him to withdraw yet again. However, a very deserving individual will replace him, PGA Tour Rookie, Sahith Theegala.
So upset to miss the 150th Open at St. Andrews. Still working on getting back to 100%. Good luck to all. Hoping to be back soon!

Theegala is having a hot start into his rookie season that has bolstered him into 36th in the Fedex Cup Points and 62nd OWGR (Overall World Golf Ranking). He has proven himself throughout the season with a T-2, T-3, totaling for five Top 5 finishes, along with 9 Top 25’s, making the cut 21 times out of 25 events this season.
Theegala has battled adversity on and off the golf course. He underwent wrist surgery to take care of ongoing wrist pain in 2019, but bounced back strongly earning his PGA Tour card nearly two years after the surgery. This season he has some bad breaks on the final stretches of holes but this hasn’t stopped Sahith.
He keeps on grinding and stays firmly grounded believing in his game to keep improving each week, shown by his consistent performances. The PGA Tour rookie is always optimistic, appreciating fan support and thankful for what he has been blessed with.
This will be Sahith’s first Open appearance, being no better time than now to debut at St. Andrews in The 150th Open. No matter what the result for Theegala, it will be a memorable moment in his career and likely an emotional one as well.
Six golfers in history have won in their debuts: Sam Snead, Tony Lema, Tom Watson, Ben Curtis, Ben Hogan, and Colin Morikawa last year.
